Resource efficient and climate-friendly forestry industry

This program seeks solutions to the pulp and paper industry's challenges within the energy field. The focus is on energy efficiency and specifically studying how low-value heat can be utilised. The research will also study organic material side streams for fuel production.

The research focuses on tangible projects around the problems within pulp and paper mills, primarily looking at how  to use lower heating value energy, organic residual products and how to increase the amount of domestically produced high-quality biofuels and better process ventilation.

The program is not about using raw material from forestry to produce new materials, products or services. R&D in this area is managed by BioInnovation, the Forestry Industries' strategic innovation area.

We have an annual budget of SEK 650,000 and supporting the program are 13 Swedish pulp and paper mills.
