Maximizing Societal Value in the Energy Transition

In this webinar, we take a closer look at the challenges facing those who plan and develop our future energy system. As data centres expand, industries move away from fossil fuels and hydrogen production grows, the demand for electricity is increasing.
Meeting this demand will require major investments. But it is not simply about producing more electricity. For energy developers, grid operators, utilities and public authorities, an important question is how these investments can create the greatest value for the electricity system and society as a whole.
Hybrid energy parks offer a practical example. By bringing together technologies such as wind power, solar power and battery storage, they may create benefits that each technology could not provide on its own. The webinar will explore these opportunities and what they could mean for a more resilient, efficient and cost-effective energy system.
Keynote speaker: Bent Flyvbjerg
Bent Flyvbjerg is an internationally recognised expert on megaprojects, project planning and risk management. He is Professor Emeritus at the University of Oxford and a professor at the IT University of Copenhagen. For more than three decades, he has studied why major projects succeed or fail.
He is co-author of the international bestseller How Big Things Get Done. His research examines why ambitious projects often exceed their budgets, miss deadlines or fail to deliver the expected benefits, and what organisations can do differently to achieve better results.
At the webinar, Bent Flyvbjerg will bring these insights to the energy transition, sharing perspectives on how to assess the value of major investments, plan and deliver projects successfully, and make better-informed decisions about future energy systems.
About Forum for Energy Parks
The webinar is organised by Energiforsk’s Forum for Energy Parks, a platform for sharing knowledge about energy parks where several energy technologies are located together, often combined with energy storage.
The forum aims to improve understanding of the value that energy parks can bring to the electricity system and society, and how these benefits can be considered in future energy planning and investment decisions.
