Non-destructive testing of concrete structures in nuclear applications
The design of the Nordic nuclear power plants with a thick concrete structure with the liner cast in concrete poses a great challenge for non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
A conclusion of the project is that the most promising NDT methods for nuclear applications are ground penetrating radar (GPR), high energy computed radiography (HECR) and multichannel analysis of surface waves (MASW).

Gap formation between steel liner and cylinder wall in reactor containment buildings
The reactor containment building is the most important safety barrier in a nuclear power plant. It is a cylindrical, prestressed concrete structure with an embedded steel liner on the inner face of the containment wall, designed to maintain integrity in the event of an internal accident.
