DIAM – A Matrix Tool for pump vibrations

| 2024-1051 | RAINER NORMANN TU DARMSTADT
In this research project a DIAM-Matrix tool together with a flow chart has been developed for the problem of pump vibrations.
2024 1051

In the 3 matrices M1, M2, and M3 a total of 40 different Vibration Phenomena have been defined in the rows of these matrices versus 29 different Detections in matrix M1, 27 different Investigations in matrix M2 and 30 different Analysis methods in matrix M3, presented in the columns of the matrices. The Vibration Identification starts with Detections and continues with Investigations and Analysis Methods. If one or even more Vibration Phenomena have been identified, the procedure continues with the Vibration Mitigation in Matrix M4, in which 29 Mitigation possibilities are related to the 40 Vibration Phenomena.

    Cavitation induced vibrations in valves

Cavitation and flow-induced vibrations in valves are critical issues in piping systems, particularly in nuclear power plants, where reliability and structural integrity are essential. These phenomena can lead to fatigue damage, erosion, and reduced operational safety.

Cavitation induced vibrations in orifice plates and a partially closed valve

This study aims to experimentally investigate flow-induced vibrations and cavitation in single-hole and multi-hole orifices and a partially closed Stafsjö valve. The goal is to provide experimental data for validating Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models.
