Our research addresses the requirements for dam safety engineering in the maintenance and management of concrete structures. The aim is to develop new tools, guidelines, descriptions and techniques with the objective to meet the needs of the hydropower industry and take action at the right time, at the lowest possible cost and with high quality.
Concrete research is a long-term endeavour driven by the hydropower industry. The current programme phase runs between 2023 and December 2024, focusing on the external concrete structures of the power plant. Part of the activity concerns the concrete structures close to the generators, which are subject to high dynamic loads when the operating mode changes and the need for regulating power increases.
