Life After 60 – Long Term Operation of Nuclear Power

On the 21st and 22nd of January 2025, Energiforsk's Annual Nuclear Conference was held in Stockholm. We explored the importance of lifetime extension of existing nuclear power plants in the Nordic energy setup with the participants. During the conference, we heard more about the ongoing feasibility studies and talked about why lifetime extension is important for the Nordics. We also explored learnings from those who are ahead and discussed possibilities and challenges.

The conference was arranged by Energiforsk in collaboration with the Nordic power plants and their owners.

During the full day of presentations and panel discussions, we tried to answer the following questions:

  • Why is life-time extension of such importance for the Nordics?
  • How are we going to do it, and what are the learnings from those who are ahead?
  • Who are our future colleagues?
  • Is the rising focus on new-build a challenge or a help?

The Energiforsk Annual Nuclear Conference is an opportunity to discuss, reflect, and provide insights on these questions, and many more.
